Manager Assurance - National Office - PwC

Location: Amsterdam
Employment: Full-time

We have an opportunity for an experienced manager who is looking to take on a challenging role in our team of financial instruments specialists within the area of accounting & reporting. Our team is part of the firm's National (technical) Office which supports the firm's assurance practice in areas such as audit methodology, accounting & reporting and risk management. You will interact with the assurance practice in the Netherlands as well as enjoy stimulating interactions with the broader international (worldwide) network of financial instruments specialists of PwC.

Do you enjoy working on challenging technical matters - applying and researching accounting standards, especially those relating to financial instruments, to solve complex accounting queries?

Are you agile and keen to learn about new developments in an ever-changing world? Are you a teamplayer who likes to engage in accounting technical discussions?

Then we are looking for you!

About the job

As a financial instruments specialist within our accounting & reporting team in National Office you will be:

  • Supporting clients and colleagues in navigating complex accounting issues, both under Dutch GAAP and IFRS;

  • Developing tools to make significant accounting judgement and analysis easier;

  • Enhancing the quality of financial statements by performing pre-issuance reviews on key accounting issues;

  • Engaging with the financial instruments specialists of PwC around the world, representing our team in the Netherlands;

  • Developing new guidance in the field of financial instruments;

  • Developing and facilitating training to upskill our colleagues and clients on financial instruments related topics;

  • Creating or updating audit work programmes to assist audit teams in the performance of their work;

  • Providing ad-hoc accounting advice to non-audit clients.

To join our team, a background in financial instruments accounting is considered an advantage-but it is more important that you know when to ask for coaching and are open to receive other views as input for developing your own opinion. You are able to identify key points for discussion quickly and see complex issues as an interesting challenge. As you gain experience you will be working more independently, yet always supported by a network of specialists who solve important problems together. You will focus and develop yourself in the area of financial instruments specifically, but also deepen your broader accounting knowledge. You will have the opportunity to build a network, both within PwC Netherlands and within the broader team of financial instruments specialists of PwC globally.

Who are you?

You are a talented and ambitious professional in the field of financial audit and/or risk management and take responsibility for your own career and development. You wish to acquire new knowledge, share your expertise, expand your network and get the best out of yourself and your colleagues.

  • You have completed a business administration or economic university programme and have a postgraduate RA degree.

  • You have gained experience in auditing and/or accounting at an audit firm.

  • You have a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • You speak and write fluent Dutch and English and can easily adapt to new work environments.

  • You are self-reliant, flexible, critical, proactive, innovative and a team player.

What do we offer?

If you work at PwC, you can count on a wide range of assignments and clients and working together with inspiring and experienced colleagues.
You work in an organisation that takes its social responsibility by pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals, wanting to be circular by 2030 and contributing to social entrepreneurship. You will work in a dynamic and often multidisciplinary team in which personal and professional growth are central. You can count on extensive employment conditions that have been drawn up with attention to your growth and flexible working and living.
In addition to good primary conditions, your employment conditions include:

  • An open working atmosphere, in which you receive feedback and coaching;

  • A knowledge organization from which you can learn and grow into a top specialist;

  • Hybrid working and excellent remote work facilities;

  • Team events;

  • The possibility to work abroad after a number of years;

  • Training and educational opportunities, aimed at both soft skills and substantive knowledge;

  • Fun Friday afternoon drinks, winter sports and various annual events to get to know your colleagues better;

  • The possibility to commit yourself to Corporate Responsibility, different networks, diversity, innovation and/or recruitment;

  • Lease car;

  • A minimum of 32 vacation days;

  • Bonus;

  • Laptop and iPhone;

  • A wellbeing budget of EUR 1000,-. This is a personal budget that you can spend on your health, such as: mindfulness, sports, lifestyle coaching, wellness, a second screen or noise cancelling headphones;

  • Partly non-contributory pension.
