Specialist Business Controls (Financial Services) - PwC

Locatie: Amsterdam

The content of the engagements will be varied, for example advisory work in the field of processes and IT and business systems, as well as in the field of internal controlling and controls. You will work both at the client’s premises and at PwC’s offices.

Job Description & Summary

You’re ambitious and you’re committed to your own development and to seizing opportunities. You want to develop your talents, both in terms of your discipline and in social skills and relationships. You also recognise these qualities as applying to you:

  • You are a university graduate, preferably in Finance or Economics;
  • You have 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in issues relating to financial legislation and regulations, internal controlling, controls, risk control and/or risk management;
  • You have a knowledge of financial services and the underlying processes;
  • You are curious about developments in, for example, Blockchain, AI, the Internet of Things, and Robotics;
  • You want to carry out advisory work in the field of internal controlling and business processes, and you are prepared to learn about IT processes;
  • You like working on various client assignments in a team and on a project basis.

What does your job look like?
You will be a member of the Financial Services team, specialising in various types of clients, and you will work together with colleagues in multidisciplinary project teams. Your clients will be banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and real estate/pension funds that are mainly located in the Randstad conurbation. The content of the engagements themselves will also be varied, for example advisory work in the field of processes and IT and business systems, as well as in the field of internal controlling and controls. You will work both at the client’s premises and at PwC’s offices. This makes the work varied and enables you to observe the business processes within different organisations.

As an experienced colleague, you will be able to work specifically on the common strategic themes that energise you, and will provide day-to-day coaching for less experienced members of the team. You will be in charge of your own agenda and can also contribute, for example, by giving training courses or workshops on the impact of new legislation or technologies.

Jerom de Valk joined Risk Assurance in the Amsterdam region after his graduation internship and has been working for PwC for two years now, as a member of the Financial Services team. “In the course of my day-to-day work, I see how financial service providers deal with technological and social developments. In almost all cases, those developments involve both opportunities and risks, and they are also following one another in quick succession. Working as part of a team, I help banks, insurers, asset managers, and pension scheme administrators to keep control of their processes and underlying systems so that they are effective, efficient, and future-proof. We do that by performing audits or giving advice. My portfolio comprises about eight clients a year. It’s interesting to see how they all adopt their own particular approach. Regularly visiting their premises means that I quickly gain experience, and I realise that I have the opportunity to make a difference. For example, I recently took part in a project in which we worked with a major Dutch bank to devise applications of Blockchain technology to help improve banking processes.”
