Tax & Accounting Compliance Consulting - PwC

Location: Amsterdam
Employment: Full-time
As a Senior Consultant Tax & Accounting Compliance Consulting at PwC you advise national and international clients on how to organise their compliance processes in an integrated and optimal manner, enabling them to achieve their compliance strategy.

Our clients operate in an environment in which they come up against increasingly complex legislation and regulations. Governments insist on full transparency, and stakeholders take an active interest in companies’ strategic and fiscal choices. To be accountable, companies need to provide accurate and real-time financial reports. Sound financial accountability is more important than ever. But a company has to provide each of its clients with a specific report covering subjects such as management information, statutory financial statements and corporate tax returns. That makes compliance more important than ever. As a Senior Consultant you will be helping our clients to meet their financial reporting and tax obligations at national and international level.

“Do you enjoy getting your teeth into issues where financial and tax accountability meet with process improvement and digitisation? Do you relish working to tight deadlines? Then this is the job you are looking for!”

What will your work involve?

"As a Senior Consultant Tax & Accounting Compliance Consulting at PwC you advise national and international clients on how to organise their compliance processes in an integrated and optimal manner, enabling them to achieve their compliance strategy." You work together with the client on an optimal compliance process, which starts by analysing the existing process. Then you discuss where improvements can be made and ultimately implement the renewed compliance process with the client. You also advise clients on how to optimise their financial, tax and administrative processes. Using the latest data extraction, transformation and visualisation software solutions, you help clients get the most out of their financial and tax data to meet international reporting requirements without delay. You may also find yourself preparing tax returns and compiling financial statements in multidisciplinary teams, each with different areas of expertise. Auditors, tax experts, business economists and data and technology specialists work closely together in these teams.

A practical example

A large global retail company has its headquarters in the Netherlands. All its sales outlets, located in 65 countries, are managed from here. The company sees to its own statutory and tax compliance. However, the company is finding it hard to keep up because of its largely manual, sub-optimal compliance process. How do you tackle this?

First, you and the team prepare a workshop with the client to identify their compliance and reporting needs. The next step is to conduct a more detailed analysis of the current compliance and reporting process, the level of knowledge among employees and ways of automating and digitising systems. The results of this baseline measurement are discussed with colleagues from Tax Technology and Tax Accounting, who then contribute ideas on the optimal process design. This culminates in an action plan to complete the next step in the assignment: implementing the new compliance process, coupled with employee coaching and training.

Who are you?

You have a background in Accounting & Reporting and are ready to shift your focus from the product to the process. You are also looking for a varied job in a dynamic environment. You want to put theoretical knowledge into practice, acquire fresh knowledge, build your network and get the best out of yourself and your colleagues. In addition:

  • You have a university degree in Auditing, Accounting & Control, Business Economics, Tax Law, Tax Economics, Tax & Technology or another relevant university degree (provided you have a demonstrable affinity with the field): Technical Business Administration, Econometrics, Mathematics.
  • You have an excellent command of Dutch and English.
  • You are good with numbers, strong analytical skills and are able to make connections quickly.
  • You believe in acting with integrity, both internally and externally, and take responsibility for doing so.
  • You are interested in trends in your field and have the drive to make a difference with your team.
  • You are capable of empathising with colleagues and stakeholders and appreciate what others bring to the table.
  • You enjoy working in a team and welcome different ideas and perspectives as input.
  • You are innovative, enterprising and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
